Adult Ministry
There are many aspects to the Adult Ministry Area. The following is a brief overview of this area.
Archives
In 2005, we celebrated 175 years as a church. There is a rich history of the church and part of it is displayed in the south hallway off of the Welcome Center. Several Archive Team members spent countless hours sifting through memorabilia and artifacts of the church’s history. Do you enjoy researching, getting things in order for the next big event, or just feel called to help out this ministry? Contact Mary Ellen (523-3639, ext. 16 or maryellen@CBCspringfield.org).
Church Library
The Baum Church Library is located on the third floor (first room on the left from the elevator). Jim and Sue Filler, along with a team of libraries, keep the library stocked and staffed. There are many books available for children, youth, and adults. There are also tapes, CDs and movies on DVD and VHS. No matter your interest, there is something for you! Visit us on Sunday and Wednesday when our library is staffed. During the week, you can stop by the church office for a key to visit the library. There is a children’s area and a table and chairs for youth and adults. Come “check out” the library today. If you have questions or would you like to be a part of the library team, contact Mary Ellen (523-3639, ext. 16 or maryellen@CBCspringfield.org).
Gift Determination
How are you gifted to serve? What are your “specialties?” Maybe you enjoy visiting with people, reaching out to others in need, or many other talents you may or may not think of as a “big deal.” But they are. Each gift has been given to you from God for his glory. Each person has a specific place in God’s Kingdom to serve meaningfully. Do you know how you are gifted and where you are meant to serve? Contact Mary Ellen (523-3639, ext. 16 or maryellen@CBCspringfield.org) for more information about gift determination. Also visit our Volunteer Opportunities page (coming soon) to view the list of opportunities that are available.
Sunday Bible Study Opportunities
There are many opportunities for Bible study on Sunday mornings at Central. There is a place for everyone to study the Bible. There are classes for all age groups and a short-term class that alternates topics.
Wednesday Night Dinner and Program Hour
On Wednesday evenings throughout most of the year, we serve dinner on Wednesday night and enjoy fellowship with one another. The menu is posted on the Friday before the dinner. You have the option of meal or a chef salad (please let us know which when you make your reservations).
The cost of dinner is $4.50 for adults and $1.25 for children 10 and under. If you prefer, you may bring your own meal and join us for the fellowship (no reservation needed). Reservations can be made by contacting the church office (523-3639 or office@CBCspringfield.org) or by using the "Worship Response Card" on Sunday. Reservations are needed for dinner by noon on Tuesday.
Our kitchen and clean up crews keep our dinners going. There are several opportunities for you to serve meaningfully on Wednesday nights. Can you help cook, serve, or clean up? Your gifts are needed. Whether you can volunteer every Wednesday, bi-weekly, or once a month, you are needed.
